In 2025, U. S. Steel announced a major capital investment of $75 million to install a new Premium Thread Line at its Fairfield Tubular Operations in Alabama. This project demonstrates U. S. Steel’s ongoing commitment to growth and American-made manufacturing, and is part of a larger capital deployment strategy in partnership with Nippon Steel.

The Fairfield Premium Thread Line will increase U. S. Steel’s threading capabilities and capacity, significantly improving production efficiency through advanced automation and process upgrades. The new facility will feature enhanced safety features, and best-in-class equipment, operating within the Fairfield Tubular campus. U. S. Steel plans to begin construction of this proposed new line once all approvals have been received.

SteelSUSTAINABILITY’s Fairfield Works Chapter Visits Carbon Capture Facility

On April 25th, the Fairfield Works Chapter of SteelSUSTAINABILITY proudly hosted its Q2 2025 Adopt-A-Mile Clean Up Event. Despite a small but mighty team of just eight volunteers, the group collected more than 640 pounds of litter in just a few hours, making a visible impact on the local community.

Since 1988, Alabama PALS has partnered with the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) to lead the Adopt-A-Mile program, an initiative that empowers volunteers across the state to help keep Alabama’s roadways clean and welcoming. With over 1,900 miles currently adopted, the Adopt-A-Mile program offers a meaningful way for organizations to take ownership of their surroundings and contribute to a cleaner, safer environment.

The Fairfield Works team showed incredible dedication and teamwork, and we’re excited to continue building on this momentum. Together, we’re creating workplaces that enable our company to make our communities stronger. To join SteelSUSTAINABILITY or any of U. S. Driving Impact: U. S. Steel at the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix

A few weeks ago, U. S. Steel was on the ground in Birmingham, Alabama, for the Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix.

As a proud sponsor, we were part of an event that goes far beyond racing. The Grand Prix supports the children and families at Children’s of Alabama, and seeing that impact firsthand made it even more meaningful.

U. S. Steel was also part of the Gear Up Your Career panel discussion event, where Robby Garner (Manager – Site Engineering) and Scott Bogardus (Project Engineer) of our Fairfield Tubular Operations connected with students to share their experiences and highlight the wide range of career opportunities across our company—from skilled trades to advanced technology roles.

Moments like this reflect who we are: supporting our communities while building awareness of the future of steelmaking and the opportunities ahead.

Check out the recap video for highlights from a weekend that was truly a winner for everyone involved!
