U. S. Steel Named Official Partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers

PITTSBURGH, July 29, 2019 – The Pittsburgh Steelers and U. S. Steel have announced a new multi-year partnership agreement, which will unite two legendary Pittsburgh-based organizations in an effort to support education and community pride. The organizations are teaming up to launch the first Steelers-themed STEM education program.

The partnership’s focus on STEM education initiatives will be integrated into schools in the Mon Valley Area throughout the year.  In the spring, the Steelers and U. S. Steel will reward students from these areas with a unique experience at Heinz Field.

“We are thrilled to join the Steelers in bringing STEM education initiatives to schools in the Mon Valley, where our Mon Valley Works operations are located. STEM education sets students up for a wide array of exciting career opportunities, including those in steelmaking,” said Rich Fruehauf, Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning and Corporate Development at U. S. Steel.

In addition to the STEM program, the partnership will support local charitable organizations and celebrate the history of the Steel City.

“U. S. Steel is an iconic Pittsburgh institution, and we’re excited to officially welcome them to the Steelers family,” said, Ryan Huzjak, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Pittsburgh is U. S. Steel’s home - where we have been making steel for more than a century. It’s where thousands of our employees live and work. The Pittsburgh Steelers share many of the same values as U. S. Steel - tenacity, teamwork, pride in our community and the desire to give back. We are proud of this partnership and look forward to a great season, for steelmaking and for football in Pittsburgh,” added Fruehauf.

Elements of the partnership will officially kick-off at the Pittsburgh Steelers preseason game at Heinz Field on Friday, August 9 when the Steelers play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
