Biography
Mr. Kocsis is currently Vice President – Chief Labor Relations Officer and also serves as the Vice President of Human Resources & Transformation at USSK. He is responsible for Corporate Labor Relations, Plant Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Corporate Medical as well as leading the USSK Human Resources organization and heading their overall metriX cost reduction initiative. He has been in this role since December 2022.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Kocsis was the General Manager of Human Resources from September of 2013, leading the plant and corporate Human Resources Business Partner team. Prior to this role, Karl held a number of corporate and plant roles since beginning his career with U. S. Steel in June of 1989 as a paralegal in the Law Department. In 1997, he moved into the Employee Relations organization where he held a series of plant labor relations and human resources roles. In 2003, with the acquisition of National Steel, Karl was named Manager of Employee Relations at Granite City Works where he led the integration of human resources and safety activities at the facility. In 2005, he was named General Manager Administration and Safety at USSK, and two years later he transferred back to the United States as the Director of Employee Relations at Great Lakes Works. In 2009, Karl was named Director of Human Resources for U. S. Steel Tubular Products, where he oversaw efforts to restructure the business in the midst of the economic downturn.
Mr. Kocsis graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and a minor in International Economics.
