Biography

Hiroshi Ono was appointed as a Board Member of United States Steel Corporation in June 2025. As Managing Executive Officer at Nippon Steel Corporation, Mr. Ono is responsible for managing global business development in the Americas and leads the Usiminas Project of Nippon Steel. Since 2020, he has also served as President and CEO of Nippon Steel North America.

Mr. Ono joined Nippon Steel in 1989, serving in a series of management roles in the Business Development and Automotive Flat Products divisions. Prior to his current role, Mr. Ono served as the Head of Global Business Support Center in the Global Business Development Sector.

Mr. Ono earned his Bachelor of Economics from Kyushu University, and his Master of Business Administration from Amos Tuck School, Dartmouth College.
