Biography

Naoki Sato was appointed as Board Member of United States Steel Corporation in June 2025. Mr. Sato is the Representative Director and Executive Vice President (CTO) at Nippon Steel Corporation and also serves as the Vice Head of the USS Project, India Project, and Thai Steel Project.

Mr. Sato joined Nippon Steel in 1983 as an electrical engineer and has held key leadership roles at major steelworks in Japan, including Executive Vice President as Head of East Nippon Works and Managing Executive Officer of Kashima Works and Yawata Works from 2017 until 2019. Throughout his career, Mr. Sato has contributed to the development of advanced control technologies, operational improvements, engineering and maintenance, and technical cooperation for steel plants outside Japan. His leadership has been instrumental in establishing the foundation for Nippon Steel's advanced steel technologies.

Mr. Sato earned his Bachelor of Science in Faculty of Engineering from Kyushu Institute of Technology.
