Prepainted Roofing
Prepainted Galvanized steel sheet and prepainted GALVALUME® steel sheet from U.S.Steel make exceptionally attractive and durable roofing (whether conventional or standing seam). Both products can be manufactured in a variety of standard profiles and shapes including architecturally unique profile designs. A structure can have a roof that looks like shingles, shakes, clay tiles, or new special designs -- with all the advantages of prepainted steel. Modern paint systems offer exceptional resistance to chalking and fading so that the original color and gloss last for a long time. These new improved paints can be tailored to meet the appearance and performance expectations for any facility whether it is new or being renovated.
GALVANIZED AND GALVALUME® Steel Sheet -- SERVICE-PROVED OVER MANY YEARS
U. S. Steel has produced both Galvanized and GALVALUME® coated steel sheet for many years, gaining a time-proven record of supplying high-quality coated-sheet products to meet the needs of the construction industry. U.S.Steel has been producing galvanized steel sheet for the requirements of this industry for more than 50 years. As the use of galvanized sheet changed from unpainted to prepainted for most construction-industry applications, U.S.Steel was able to provide the improved surface quality required for prepainted products. Prepainted galvanized steel sheet not only looks more attractive but provides greatly enhanced service life compared to the unpainted product.
GALVALUME® steel sheet, which U.S.Steel has produced since 1982, has an aluminum-zinc alloy coating to provide both galvanic and barrier-layer corrosion protection. For many applications, especially those that require good long-term performance in corrosive environments, U.S.Steel's warranted prepainted GALVALUME® steel sheet has become the product preferred by many users.
Today, with technically sophisticated organic paint coatings applied by the prepainting process, Galvanized and GALVALUME® steel sheet products enclose and protect structures of all kinds while giving them architectural grace.
