History of
e-commerce at U. S. Steel
U. S. Steel has been on the frontier of electronic commerce since the
mid-80's, pioneering efforts to implement Electronic Data Interchange
(EDI). The company has been actively involved in developing Steel Industry
COMPORD, ASC X12, and XML standards and has been a leader in the
implementation of ASC X12 and the international EDI standard,
EDIFACT.
Our staff actively participates in various industry groups: the AIAG
(automotive industry), AISI (steel industry), and DISA (ASC X12). Our
skill and business savvy are recognized throughout the industry as being
of the highest quality.
U. S Steel's robust traditional EDI program includes support for a full
suite of COMPORD, ASC 12X and EDIFACT transactions, including Advanced
Shipping Notices, Material Releases, Invoices and many other transaction
sets.
U. S. Steel is dedicated to better customer service through electronic
commerce efforts in traditional EDI as well as web-based extranet
applications.

SteelTrack®
features a suite of applications that are customizable, powerful and
comprehensive. Being Internet based, the applications are easy to
use and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are there when you
need them!
Current reporting features include Order Status, Inventory Tracking,
Shipment History, Material Release, and Physical and Chemical Test
Reporting, in addition to a variety of supplier-targeted applications.
Our future plans include providing additional applications to improve the
customer service experience and to make it easier and more enjoyable to do

1. Get on the web.
2. Connect to the Internet and make sure that your computer
meets this list of requirements:

3. Log on at http://steeltrack.uss.com.
On your first visit, you will need to register. Simply click the
"Register" button, review the system requirements and then fill
in the new user registration form. (Don't forget to list a sponsor!)
You'll be contacted via email when your access is granted. This process
takes 1-2 business days to complete.
Once your access is
granted, simply login the next time you visit and you're in business!
