Susan M. Suver Susan M. Suver, who was born in Meadville, Pa., and raised in Arizona, earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational communications from Arizona State University in 1984 and completed the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management’s Global Executive Management Program in 1997 and the University of Michigan’s Advanced Executive Human Resources Program in 1998. 

Mrs. Suver began her professional career in 1986 in public relations holding a variety of increasingly responsible positions at Best Western International, Ramada International Hotels and Resorts, and Canadian Pacific/Doubletree Hotels Corporation. In 1993, Mrs. Suver joined Phelps Dodge Corporation, a mining  and metals production company based in Phoenix, Ariz., as manager-corporate communications. In 1995, she advanced to director and added community affairs to her area of responsibility. Three years later, she was elected an officer of the corporation and appointed vice president-organization effectiveness and communications. 

In 2001, Mrs. Suver accepted the position of vice president-global organization development at the Melville, N.Y., headquarters of Arrow Electronics, Inc., a global provider of products and services for industrial and commercial users of electronic components and computer products. She was promoted in 2003 to vice president-global organization effectiveness and executive human resources, and from 2004 to 2006 served as a corporate officer and vice president-global human resources. She joined U. S. Steel in July 2007 as vice president-human resources. 

Mrs. Suver is a member of the HR50, the Human Resource Policy Association and the Society of Human Resource Management. She also belongs to the Public Relations Society of America and earned the organization’s Accredited Public Relations (APR) designation.
