DUAL-TEN® 780/800 DUAL PHASE STEEL

DUAL-TEN® 780/800 (dual phase) steel is recommended for high-strength structural parts responsible for crash energy management when formability requirements are higher than offered by equivalent grades of conventional HSLA steel.

Note that DUAL-TEN® steel has no yield point elongation (YPE).

Typical Forming Limit Curve (FLC)

Above is an example of an experimental FLC for DUAL-TEN® 780 HDGA steel of 1.6mm thickness. The solid line shows the boundary between safe and unsafe areas. The broken line denotes the ASM approximation.

The forming limit curve for DUAL-TEN® 780/800 steel can be approximated with conventional ASM FLCs calculated from n-value and sheet thickness.
