Stretch Dome Test (Pie Pan)


The U. S. Steel Automotive Center laboratory can perform grid strain analysis and thickness strain analysis. Any grid patterns can be used with our automatic grid analysis system and the accuracy of strain reading is within plus or minus 0.5%.

The circular shape fixed sweep die was built to a standard size for laboratory usage. The die has a lockbead, which constrains the material from flowing into the die cavity and perform the stretch drawing. The bi-axial uniform sweep will provide the uniform biaxial stretch (strain).
