Strain Rate Testing


A high strain rate test up to approximately 2 /s can be performed on regular tensile specimen.  The lab can determine the strain rate sensitivity (m-value) of sheet metals, which is equivalent to the strain rate range used in a typical stamping operation.  Typical stress and strain curves from two different strain rate tests are illustrated in the following figure.
