Mechanical Property Measurement
Mechanical properties are measured
using a uniaxial tension test based on the test standard of
ASTM (NA), JIS (Japanese) or EN (European). The tension test is performed on a hydraulic-
controlled machine with computerized data acquisition.
The machine is capable of pulling any typical
strengths and gauges used in automotive applications. The mechanical properties measured from a tension test
include:
- yield strength – 0.2% offset (default) or upper and lower yielding strength if YPE is
present
- tensile strength
- uniform elongation
- yield point elongation (YPE) (if
present)
- n-value (strain hardening exponent)
and K-value (material strength coefficient)
- r-value (anisotropy value)
