Marciniak Cup Test

Marciniak Cup Test

The tool set for the Marciniak’s Cup Drawing Test is shown on the right (in exploded view and in closed position). It consists of (from the bottom to the top) a punch, a blank holder ring with bead, a spacer sample, a tested sample and a die. High-accuracy strain measurement technology has to be applied for major and minor strain measurement. Usually, more than 150 samples are needed to define experimental FLD. Samples can be rectangular or cylindrical, as shown here. The typical diameter of the punch is four inches.
